I have a PO Box myself and live within the city limits of the second largest city in the state where I reside. When my husband and I are away, or the mail is addressed improperly, my mail still finds me "somehow." I applaud the efforts of my local postal carriers where I live.

Friendly service

I felt horrible when I sent a letter to my grandson and it was returned a week later, because I put his street address on the envelope instead of his PO Box. Unfortunately, I did not remember to put a post office box number on the envelope, even though I have been into the Centuria post office several times this last summer with my grandchildren.

My grandson had been looking forward to receiving this particular letter from me and it did not arrive. The Village of Centuria is tiny. It has no front of the house mailbox delivery. There is a physical address linked to each post office box in town. Proof of physical address must be varified several ways in order to receive a post office box when you live in Centuria. I was deeply disappointed when 5 year old grandson told me that he did not get any mail. Are children inconsequential to the US Postal Service in this area? Maybe this was an isolated event. What a shame we live by rules rather than matters of the heart when even Santa does not need a PO Box number to receive his mail. Thanks to those who still view children as "magic" in their eyes.

When I was young, we could send a letter to my grandmother with the following information written on the envelope. To grandma B. Milltwon Wi. 54858. I know that Santa Clause gets letters delivered to him from all around the world when addressed to the North Pole.
